Ride Sierra Leone will take place November 10th - November 16th 2019.
Cycling between 72 - 108km a day, you will travel across Sierra Leone along stunning, orange, mud-packed roads.
From bustling towns, lush green landscapes, and on to one of Sierra Leone’s most beautiful beaches - this ride is an opportunity to experience all that Sierra Leone has to offer.
Ride Sierra Leone is organised by the charity Street Child. Riders will get an opportunity to visit Street Child projects and see first-hand the impact that funds raised through Ride Sierra Leone could have on children and communities we support.
This is a fully supported ride. You will have medical and mechanical support on hand.
Our local mechanic has excellent flat tyre changing skills and will carry spare parts.
We will also have two support cars on hand in case you need a rest. They will also carry all your kit on cycling days.
We will be travelling with expedition medics who are on hand throughout the ride.
Ability and Fitness.
This challenge doesn't require high levels of fitness!
Participants should be experienced cyclists and be comfortable cycling full days (approx. 60 miles) for four days in a row.
We will be cycling at a relaxed pace so we can enjoy the stunning jungle scenery and will be stopping to hydrate regularly.
You will be able to cycle at your own speed.
Terrain and Bikes.
The ride travels across stunning Sierra Leone. The terrain will vary - there will be lumps, bumps and large puddles.
You do not have to bring your own bike. We work with a local cycling shop in Sierra Leone who will provide you with a bike and sort out a bike fitting. The bikes provided are likely to be hybrid mountain bikes.
