Preparing For Your Trip.

Visas For UK Citizens

Unless you are from West Africa, you will need a visa for Sierra Leone. Street Child can help to organise your visa.

A single entry for Sierra Leone visa costs £109.

If you are travelling with us from outside of the UK please get in touch and we will be able to answer any questions.

Flights

Your flights are not included in the travel package. Return flights cost on average £500. You will fly into and from Freetown, Sierra Leone.

There are currently four companies providing these flights:

  • Royal Air Maroc (via Casablanca)

  • Brussels Airlines (via Brussels)

  • Air France (via Paris)

  • KLM (via Amsterdam)

If you are travelling with your own bike, we recommend traveling with Air Brussels or Air France.

Please contact cycle@street-child.co.uk before booking your flights!

Travel Health

All cyclists will need to ensure they have the correct vaccinations ahead of the trip. Both the Yellow Fever Vaccine and Malaria tablets are compulsory to travel to Sierra Leone.

  • Yellow Fever Vaccine. The yellow fever vaccine is not usually available free on the NHS. It will cost around £60-80.

  • Malaria Tablets. You will need to take malaria tablets throughout your stay in Sierra Leone and Liberia. Your GP will be able to advise you on the best ones to take.
