Step one: set up your sponsorship page.
There are many platforms and sites you can use but we recommend using Virgin Money Giving.
Step two: personalise it.
Your page is your central platform to tell people why you’re taking on Ride Sierra Leone. Personalised pages with a brief bio and an uploaded photo are proven to raise more than those that don’t!
Step Three: Think big, think long-term.
Fundraising is not just about setting up a sponsorship page and sharing it on social media. To help you reach your target you need to invest a little time and creativity in coming up with a plan. We’ve got a fundraising plan here for you to download which should help spark some creativity.
Step four: Before you share your page, secure some early donations.
Perception is everything! Get the ball rolling by getting some money in the bank (on the page!) before you publish it.an event offline first before going online with it – get all your friends and family involved too. This way new supporters are likely to get involved when they see it already has some support.
Step five: Up your target.
When you’ve reached, or almost reached, your target - consider upping it. You can modify your goal on your sponsorship page to increase it by £50-£100 and you’ll be surprised by how that motivates people to get behind you, everyone wants to be the one to get you over the line, so move that line just a little bit further away and watch the donations roll in!
